About Deland

DeLand is Old Florida with a twist.

Nestled between Orlando and Daytona on the St. Johns River is DeLand, a fascinating city that was founded in 1876. There is history on every corner. Most of the buildings built in the 1870s are preserved and in use today. What was once a grocery store or the Western Union office is now a restaurant or hip boutique. Stetson University, founded in 1883 is the heart of the city. DeLand is authentic Old Florida.

Blended with DeLand’s sense of history is an exciting vibrancy, a modern twist that adds color to its Old Florida roots. From the active live music scene to the thriving art community to the fresh new restaurants, one of a kind boutiques and shops, DeLand offers it all in a single destination that will bewitch you and draw you back again. There’s a reason DeLand won a People’s Choice Award as the best small town outside Orlando!

Don’t miss a trip to Blue Spring State Park, a designated manatee refuge and the winter home of hundreds of West Indian Manatees. During the non-winter months, Blue Spring offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing, snorkeling, and scuba diving opportunities. The beautiful St. Johns River is not to be missed. You may explore it by renting a pontoon boat, participating in an Eco Tour or fishing. The wildlife is abundant and easily visible daily.

De Leon Springs is 15 minutes north, featuring excellent swimming, boating and the best pancakes in the county at the Old Sugar Mill Restaurant. You’re just 30 minutes from the sandy beaches of Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach for an afternoon playing in the waves.
